PLEASE, HAVE A SEAT.  NOT!

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
Psalms 1:1

The regression goes on.  If we are not careful we find ourselves walking in the counsel of the ungodly.  Then standing in the way of sinners.  By that time we get so comfortable we sit.  The word for “sit” actually takes on the idea of settling in.  Notice that the seat is the seat of a scorner.  A scorner is one who mocks and convinces others to mock.  The regression has now reached the point of changing the “regressors” attitude toward that which is right.  Remember, we are talking about happiness here.  However, we are a long way from it at this point.  We have gone from walking in the wrong place, to standing in the wrong place, and now we are sitting in the wrong place.  We are getting more and more comfortable in the wrong place.  First walking; then standing; and finally sitting.

God seems to have given us this warning to steer us away from such behavior.  When a child of God travels a downhill slide he never finds himself surprised at the bottom.  God puts up warning signs – the counsel of the ungodly; the ways of sinners; and the seat of the scornful.  Keep your eyes open.  Are you headed down the wrong way? STOP!  TURN AROUND!  There is no happiness here!
