HOW DELIGHTFUL!
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in
his law doth he meditate day and night.
Psalms 1:2
Here is a wonderful word – “but.” It implies a
contrast. Whenever the Scripture paints a dreary scene such as the
one presented in verse one it is refreshing and comforting to see the
contrast. The previous verse gave us the picture of a downhill slide - a
trip ending in unhappiness. BUT there is a promise for the one who
delights in the law of the Lord! The thought here is that
happiness is a result instead of a goal. When the Word of God and
its effectiveness becomes a valuable and sought after commodity to the
child of God the result is happiness.
To delight in the Word of God is to yearn for it as
something of great value. It should become something longed for because
of its effect. The Bible is the owner’s manual for this new life
in Christ. It tells us how to work every aspect of Godly living
and promised Godly happiness.
The Word of God – Seek it; Desire
it; Apply it.
