July 12

Psalm 69:30: I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving.

FRIDAY - July 12th, 2002 - Met Pastor David for breakfast in the hotel. Today is our first meeting. How exciting! As we traveled down the road to Huruma Baptist Church and saw the conditions of the land of the people we were moved to tears. It is really hard to express our emotions fully. The overwhelming realization of the project hit us hard. These people were so thirsty for the Word of God. And to think, we are able to meet their needs. Praise the Lord!

As we turned into the church compound, we were greeted by many children and adults! A sign welcomed each one of us by name and the Elisha Project. We were greeted by leaders of the church and presented with colorful leis around our necks and escorted to the church sanctuary and given special places to sit.

The service began and we were welcomed by the pastor and the people and their music. We were also welcomed by Commissioner Paul Lelei. He works with the mayor’s office of Eldoret. Another pastor welcomed us and the Elisha Project. He asked us to inform the church back in America that we had delivered the equipment (Elisha Project) into "safe hands".

The ladies of the church cooked our lunch. We were served meat, potatoes, cabbage, rice, pineapple and cokes!

The music was wonderful! The Elisha Project was presented and a demonstration was given. Praise the Lord it worked!! A prayer of dedication was offered around the equipment. The people were so excited! Mrs. Kibet, District Chief welcomed us to Kenya and presented each of us with Kibuyu ( milk jugs made from gourds). These traditional jugs were used to store milk by the tribe from which she came. What an honor!

Where has the time gone? The service lasted for seven hours. Pastor David apologized for the service lasting so long. It was an hour longer than planned. What a thrill and a blessing we experienced this day!

It was back to the hotel for dinner. We ended our emotionally filled day by discussing our experience and how God had started touching our lives individually. What a wonderful day! We were treated so special by these gracious people. Our hearts have been touched and our lives forever changed. We are so blessed by God!
