July 18

THURSDAY - July 18th, 2002 - We sort of rested until 5:00AM. That was when the Muslims started their prayer chants over the PA system. Oh, well, time to get up and get out of here as soon as possible. At least we were able to get most of that mud off of us from the mountain climb! Pastor David tells us that this is not the safest place in the world to be.

We had breakfast and Pastor David came back with passports and papers in hand and ready to go. We were now on our way to Eldoret. We saw a few more giraffes along the road to Eldoret. Stopped at the church to load up the rest of our luggage and start our trip back to Nairobi.. We got a late start and decided to have lunch at the local Chinese restaurant. Very good!

O.K. now we’re talking! Finally, we get to do a little shopping. We stopped at the Equator and did a little bartering and shopping for souvenirs. I’m sure they thought we had lost our minds. It had been so long since we were able to shop! We were going through withdrawals.

It was getting late in the evening and Pastor David decides it will be better to stop in Nakuru and spend the night. We stopped at the Waterbuck Hotel. Joseph the manager was anxious for us to stay so he gave us somewhat of a deal. Anyway, we stayed. Not much in way of bathrooms but the bed was good and comfortable. The food was pretty good too. We had dinner and fellow-shipped with Pastor David, Luci and his assistant pastor. Where has all the time gone? This has been the fastest trip!
